Triple Zip Along!

Or should it be Clash of the Titans?

This is my finished Triple Zip from Debbie's Triple Zip Along - here.
I decided to use Tula Pink and Kaffe Fasset prints with a bit of grey linen to finish off the top. I love many of the prints from both designers and instead of clashing thought they actually played well together in this little zippy purse. I chose contrasting zips and boy does that lime yellow green look yellow in this pic! Really- it does accent one of the colors in the Tula print well- see the bottom edge of the pouch about 2/3's to the right? And you can see it on the back :)

I have to admit, this took me a bit more time than I anticipated. I was seeing many bloggers say it took them approx 1 hour. I initially was going to sew with grey thread but it was 30 wt and my machine did not like it at all vomitted it right back up --  in huge amounts! So moving forward, I cleaned out my bobbin (found just a bit of lint :0 ) and changed needles.  I also changed back to 50wt in a beautiful turquioise. I love that color. I knew that it would show any bit of crooked stitching that I did but hey, this is for me so I went for it! Ok all set.
After all that everything went well until I got to the finishing step. I followed Debbie's tutorial and then switched over to MarciGirls alternative ending -- just because it has alot of pics and I am very visual and learn better that way :)
So sewing along I finished up the sides and turned it right side out and found that I had not adjusted the sides to put the top zipper on top! And you know what--it STILL LOOKED GREAT! So from every mistake, ya learn something. This mistake put two zips on front and one on back (grey at top and turquoise on back) -- I could have left it that way and it would have been totally usable -- and I could see how you could use a zip on back just to keep something in a seperate pocket. But this little zippy pouch was not going to get the best of me lol! And this is Debbie's tutorial, and I didn't want to hijack it, so I spent some time with my seam ripper and unpicked it and repositioned the zips. Mine finished at 5in x 7 in.
I am very happy with my finished Triple Zip!

I can totally see making more of these---what great gifts! And I have seen many little bits and pieces to try-- like boxing the bottom, and adding a D ring tab on the side! What a fun stitch along! You still have time to get in on the fun and prizes! You must post a pic by Feb 15 to the Flickr group to be eligible for prizes.

Happy Stitching!
Ginny

Edited to add a couple of better pics - the lighting last evening was horrid ;)

    1. Hi Peggy! This was through Debbie at A Quilters Table and she had a Flickr group with instructions here: www.flickr.com/groups/triplezippouch/discuss/72157632594444907/
there is also another discussion thread of tips and tricks that is very helpful in the same group. It includes and alternative ending by Marci Girl that I found very helpful. Thanks!
