U R Priceless Blog Hop

Hi everyone and Welcome to day 4 on the U R Priceless Blog Hop!

Have you checked out all the little cuties that are being made? Wow! Lots of different styles- novelty, sophisticated, embroidered, monogrammed, no limit to the imagination. Over 100 little purses!

I would like to Thank Madam Samm over at http://www.sewwequilt.com for the wonderful pattern and great instructions! The many photos and fun instructions (she instructs you in it  that it is now time to take a break - a 23 minute break! LoL! ) were easy to follow. I would also like to thank Katherine over at http://www.sewmesomethinggood.blogspot.ca/ for organizing and being the Cheerleader for this hop- great communication and organization!

And did I mention prizes? Oh yea-there are prizes! See below for how to enter and win!

HOW CAN YOU WIN?
#1 all those who participated will have a chance to win
#2 All those who are in our top 3
#3 All those who leave comments ( each comment leaves
you another chance to win)
So comment away! We all love comments don't we!

Ok on to my little creation :)

I used VeloCity City Scene at Night for the front and back of the coin purse. I think it really is an interesting fabric in a large piece and then to cut it down made it very abstract looking--not a bad thing for a modern little coin purse! On the sides I used Too Muchery in Orange. and the lining is Metro Living Circles in Carrot. I just love the orange and navy combination!

Here is the bottom of the little purse, it meets nicely in the center for a diamond or hourglass look.

A peek inside at the lining

And I finished it with a heavy duty thread in coral for a bit of pizazz!

Overall this little purse was pretty easy to make. Didn't take too long - probably about an hour or two. The hardest part was sewing on the frame but once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty fast. I plan on making more of these as Christmas gifts.  Cuz you know...after you make the first one, they are kinda addictive and you start to thinking about all the people you could make them for and what great fabric pics you could use and customize the purse to that person! Alot of Fun!

So leave me some comment love and tell me what you think, and be sure and stop by the rest of the blogs on today's tour listed below and leave comments for a chance at winning some great prizes :)

Happy Sewing!

Hurricane Sandy Blocks and U R Priceless Blog Hop

Just a quick post to show you the blocks I made for Jennifer over at Knotted Thread for the quilts she is organizing/making for people who have been impacted and displaced by Hurricane Sandy. They are fast and easy. If you cut one 8 1/2in strip the WOF you can make a total of 5 blocks. Here is a link to the Flickr group if you want to get in on this great charity event:  https://www.flickr.com/groups/2153869@N22/

I hope these ice cream blocks bring a smile to someone. I chose this fabric because I thought of walking the Boardwalk in the summer and eating a yummy ice cream cone. I hope it brings back good memories, and that someday whoever gets the quilt with these blocks gets to do it again. Or just simply enjoy one of the little things in life - a sweet, creamy ice cream cone! :)

Don't forget to stop by tomorrow -- I am on the U R Priceless blog hop from Katherine and Madam Samm.
Have you seen all those little cuties? If not, stop by Katherine's over at Sew Me Something Good for the schedule. The hop started on Monday and continues through the 15th!

Happy Sewing!

Running crazy with hair on fire!!

Ok, that is an exaggeration but I am sure you have all been there!

October has just flown by--since vacation and now next week is Halloween!  Let's see, work, birthdays, work, family obligations, work, fundraisers, work....uh, yea, you get the picture. And it has all been good, just not enough time in the day. I have sewn a bit and have stashed alot-- pics coming Sunday!  And yes, I had cake yesterday as it was my birthday! Another year of wisdom gained (at least I like to think so, lol!)
Well maybe, I was stopped for speeding yesterday---my birthday! --- seems I need to lose a couple pounds from my foot or ALWAYS use cruise control! The cute young police office was very nice--a warning was given along with a sincere "I hope you have a Happy Birthday"  Uh...yea...I need to learn to slow down!

So two things today: There is a huge color wheel swap going on and there are still 15 spots left if you are interested!  Great way to build your stash for all those winter sewing projects coming up! Check it out!

Color Wheel Charm Swap

Open for 56 Participants, each one will order 5 yards of fabric (1yd per print) in their assigned color group. Each yard will be cut into 56 5"x5" charms and then sent to the swap leader. Once I have received all of them you will be returned 1 charm of each print equaling 280 charms!

Also the Fall edition of the Bloggers Quilt Festival over at AmysCreativeSide starts tomorrow!!

Are you ready with your entry? I will be entering for the first time. Check it out here! Entry's will be nominated by readers and prizes will be awarded. Plus it is just so awesome to see so many talented quilters showing their work! Get ready for inspiration and awesomeness!

And don't forget the U R Priceless Blog Hop coming up! My day is Nov. 8th. So many cute frame coin purses! These will make awesome Christmas Gifts--I know a few are on my list of gifts to make!

Have a great day!

Do The Hustle!

Yes, it is that time of year when the Holidays are not to far off and projects seem to be piling up!

Matter of fact it is only 96 days until Christmas!!

So I have joined Kelsey on The 100 Day Hustle!

Click here to see her post and get in on the fun!

It helps to know that others have projects that seem to pile up also and we can help motivate each other to finish!

Here is my List:

1. Finish up my Flickr fabric swaps by cutting and mailing off the fabric
        a. Send Me a Text Swap
        b. Almost Neutral Swap

2. My coin purse for the U R Priceless Blog Hop coming up in Nov

3. A lap quilt for a friend who has been diagnosed with cancer and is now facing chemo, life is short my friends you never know what the next day will bring.....

4. At least cut and hopefully piece my orange inspired Flying Free quilt, it is to be a child's quilt for donation.

5. My gift for my swap partner for the  Modern She Made Swap 2

5. A set of hot pads for my son's girlfriend who loves a scrappy look!

6. I want to cut and piece the Vintage Holiday Quilt. I have all the fabric, life has just got in the way lately!

7. And last but not least I want to get caught up on my Craftsy BOM'S! Poor things are sitting on my sewing table just screaming for attention!!

Sew--it's an ambitious list, but with your help and all  the others on the linky party we will cheer each other on! Want to join me?

On another note: Tuesday I posted about  the Pin It and Win It! contest sponsored by Fresh Squeezed Fabrics. I want to Thank all of you who joined and/or pinned for me. I was excited for you and myself, at the thought of winning beautiful bundles of fabric. I am sorry to say it did not turn out as expected. The shop owner severely underestimated the response she received to the contest and was unable to fulfill all the prizes for all the winners. I am disappointed, but more than that I apologize for the time you took and spent on the contest without winning either. There was no way for me to know that she was not prepared for the response and allowed the contest to continue far beyond her capability to fulfill the prizes. So for those of you that have asked, no, I did not win my bundle even though I did submit the required pins within the shortened amount of time. Next time when I think, WOW! Free Fabric --- I will think twice before getting caught up in the excitement. The blogging community is a wonderful community made up of giving, caring, creative individuals. I am proud to be a very small piece of that and the friendships I share here. Please know that I would never intentionally use your friendship and the blogging platform for anything other than sharing, and creative endeavors.

Happy sewing!
